This morning half the group went on the boat ride up the Stikine River. We had to wear our seat belts for the first part of this trip as we had to traverse the mud flats and needed to be secure.
Want to buy a yacht - this one was in the harbour and for sale for $93 million - any takers?
It was again a beautiful warm day and the seals were loving it.
Looks like they are floating on top of the water but are in fact soaking up the sun on a mud flat.
We spotted a bald eagle on a log along the way.
The water wasn't too rough so it was a great ride.
This salmon has almost 'run out' of steam from trying to run up the river.
It was took us about 2 Hrs. to get up the river and then 1.5 to get back.
The highlight of the ride was when we reached Shakes Lake and manoeuvred through icebergs to get to the Shakes Glacier.
We saw lots of beautiful waterfalls.
Note the size of this iceberg - that is an inflatable boat with two people in it - the boat captain said they were stupid and it was a suicide trip for them.
There were some icebergs that had dirt on top and not so pretty and then other blue icebergs like this one.
The land in this area is governed by one body and the water by another. The land body says no one can build a house on the land but the water body doesn't mind and so people have houses built on logs that are then anchored to the river bed.
A bald eagle in flight.
On the way back.
No it is not an archipelago - it is actually the seals again but they were all in an almost straight line this time!
This is a ferry similar style to the one we arrived on. It had docked in the ferry harbour.
Another beautiful sunset - how spoilt we are.
Fishermen back from a day of fishing.
Once again the moon will come down and set behind the mountain.
