Today we went across the road for a McDonalds breakfast - it gets expensive having to keep buying meals but no fridge in the room so a bit tricky getting some stuff.
We then went for a long walk around the city. They have an amazing above ground walkway called Plus15 Walkway (in orange on map-where we went - a lot more actually) which goes from building to building throughout the city. There are lots of open walkways across the road where you can see the city in the comfort of cover from rain, shade and cool and no bumpy pathways or potholes! This is certainly a very good way of getting around.
John enjoyed taking lots more photos along the way as there were many areas with sculptures. There were also lots of coffee shops and eateries along the way taking advantage of the 'passing' trade.
Inside the Chinese Cultural building. Looking up.
Another squirrel.
We walked down to Prince's Island Park which is in the middle of Bow River. It was here we could see some evidence of the flooding with fences all around the outskirts to protect people walking off into the unknown and some pathways in the park closed still and under repair. There were trees that were bent over from the torrent of water that would have swept by and some debris along the way.
A sculpture in the park.
Bridges to the park.
We then made our way back to Calgary Tower where we had a quick look on the observation level before our lunch booking at 1.15pm. This was a much more relaxed way of seeing the view as we had a lovely meal and took in the sights.
After lunch we walked to the C Train station. There is an inner city area where you can travel along 7 Avenue Downtown for free so we caught this back to where we were staying. Then we bought a few supplies from the local Mac's mini market to keep us going for dinner and tomorrows breakfast. Then it was back to the room where we have updated this blog and will relax for the evening.
John went out & did some Neutral Density photography - added to the lens to slow the shots down so that the exposure takes a longer time - water is more blurred.
