03-08-2013 Saturday - Banff - Minnewanka lake & Sulphur Mountain gondola
We went out to Lake Minnewanka (means water energy) for a cruise on the lake. Also, as was pointed out for the benefit of the Aussies on the trip it is pronounced 'Mini Wonka'.
Our guide was quite informative/funny.
Views of the lake area.
Walking to the bus station.
The Gondola at Sulphur Mountain.
Some of the amazing views - another perfect day - it was predicted to rain the next day so we wanted to get the important sightseeing done today.
The Fairmont.
Banff.
Some more of Banff.
A fat Chipmunk.
Some of the queue to get back down - 40 minutes to get on to the gondola (4 in each). We had seen a bridal party at our hotel before we left. We saw them later when we were waiting for the bus - they were going into a Starbucks for coffee. Later they managed to jump the cue up and down the gondola to have some photos taken up the top.
Mt Rundle from Mt Sulphur - showing a number of the peaks that make up Mt Rundle.
